Shane Steffanson is the Founder, CEO, and virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) of Defensible Cyber Risk, where he helps business leaders make informed, defensible decisions about cybersecurity risk.

Shane works with organizations of all sizes, from growing companies without formal security leadership to more mature teams looking for strategic direction, to translate cybersecurity from a technical problem into a clear business concern. His focus is on helping decision-makers understand what matters most, which risks are real, and where security investments will have the greatest impact.

As a vCISO, Shane provides practical security leadership tailored to each organization's size, resources, and risk tolerance. He partners closely with owners, founders, IT leaders, and management teams to design and guide security programs that are realistic, sustainable, and aligned with business goals, not just compliance requirements.
